What to do during a 14 day lock-in…

What to do during a 14 day lock-in…

Let’s hypothesize. Say you were at home, on a lock-in, for 14 days… just what could you get up to in order to pass the time? Two weeks sounds like a long time. Granted. But, if you’re usually rushed off your feet and struggling to find enough time in-between meetings to top up your matcha latte, then the first few days could provide a welcomed way to chill the EFF out. Maybe you’ve been neglecting your passions - you used to love reading, but now you can’t fit it into your busy schedule. Perhaps you love yoga but your mornings are usually occupied with squeezing in the last Z’s before a long ass day?
We’ve thought of a few ways we wouldn’t mind spending 14 days.

Good reads

Set yourself a challenge. How many books can you read in 14 days?! These are some of our faves.

Everything I Know About Love by Dolly Alderton
A relatable memoir about navigating all things love and relationships on the path to adulthood. Think awkward sex, getting dumped, throwing naff house parties - basically encountering issues that we all encounter at some point or another. We think this is one that needs to be on everyone’s list.

Invisible Women: Exposing Data Bias in a World Designed for Men by Caroline Criado Perez
If you’re looking for some juicy data to stick your teeth into… (ok, this is unlikely, we don’t generally seek cold hard data for fun). In all seriousness, this book highlights the gender data gap - how the world has been created for men, by men. It tackles what we don’t know, and why we don’t know it. It covers issues still happening today all around the world, and is certainly a must-have to raise awareness of key issues. For some eye-opening insight, this is the book for you.

Come as You Are: The Surprising New Science That Will Transform Your Sex Life by Emily Nagoski, Ph.D.
This book explores the whys and hows of women's sexuality, based on research and brain science. It claims that it will radically transform your sex life into one filled with confidence and joy… I mean, knowledge is power, right?! The reviews for this book are so good! Readers are saying it should be an essential book for men and women (even if you have a great sex life), and people wish they’d read it sooner! This book is definitely on our to-do list.

Netflix and chill

Who else loves when the T.V. asks if you’re still watching? Whether you’re in full-on sloth mode or your spoon has led to a cheeky fork, you’re like “Please Netflix, just let me live”. There's no denying, Netflix is an absolute Godsend. When you're hungover, bored, or just generally looking for a LIT series… you know where to go. So a Netflix membership is the perfect accompaniment for a 14 day lock-in.

The I’m-on-the-edge-of-my-sofa watch
The Stranger - A web of secrets sends family man Adam Price on a desperate quest to discover the truth about the people closest to him.

The what-the-eff-is-going-on watch
Love Is Blind - Nick and Vanessa Lachey host a social experiment where single men and women look for love and get engaged… all before meeting in person. If you haven’t heard of this series yet, you must have been living under a rock, and the controversy surrounding the programme puts it at the top of our list.

The oh-this-is-how-it-works watch
Sex, Explained - The series covers everything from the biology of attraction to the history of birth control… an exploration of the ins and outs of sex. Who knows, with some time on your hands, you may fancy topping up on some good-to-know knowledgeYou may feel a bit sluggish, so getting some feel good hormones pumping around your body is likely to be on your list. No, not the way you're thinking (but we’ll get to that later).
Or just watching dog videos on Youtube.
Just because.

The at home sweat sesh

Why not work up a sweat to burn some of that pent up energy? We’re thinking boxing and conditioning workouts with BOXX. Oh, and what do you know, they have a 14 day free trial! You can combine BoxxHIIT classes, cardio sessions, strength workouts and even yoga to get your ideal calorie burning sesh… win-win.
YouTube fitness babe, Maddie Lymburner has some fabulous home workouts. We’re thinking we’ll use this time to grow some BOOTAY.

Sexual exploration

Play time
We couldn’t leave out making some time for a little (or a lot) of sexploration. Let’s face it, whether it's solo or partnered, having a play is a good way to spend some time. Orgasms release chemicals that flush cortisol out of the body, creating a deep relaxation feeling. Having frequent orgasms can even help to boost your immune system. According to studies, having one or two per week boosts immunoglobulin levels by 30% (the antibodies that work to fight infection). It’s also great for your skin - that post-session glow is real due to collagen production!
You could download apps like Ferly and Dipsea to take you out of your comfort zone. Ferly focusses on sexual self-care through mindful practices, guided audio play and sensual stories - take some time to get to know your body. Dipsea plays sexy audio stories to spark your imagination and get you in the mood, with a range of subjects, explicitness, and sexual preferences that is perfect for solo or partner listening!

Watch some porn
If you’re horny AF and fancy watching some kink, you could head to an ethical porn site. In real life, people tend to get off on their partner’s pleasure, so it makes sense to consume good porn that’s more emotionally rewarding. When we say ethical porn, we’re talking about porn that celebrates making love with emotional connections and mutual respect as well as being f*cking hot. See our blog post on our fave ethical porn sitesOr why not head to our Celebrating The Big ‘O’ blog to see if you can make your way through over 10 different types of orgasm? Challenge accepted.
