Celebrating the Big 'O'

National Orgasm Day – Celebrating the ‘Big O’
So, it’s July 31st, which means one thing: National Orgasm Day is upon us.
At Woowoo, we are strong believers that this day deserves to be screamed and shouted about from the rooftops (sorry, we couldn’t resist)… Not only do orgasms feel great, solo or with a partner, they have a range of benefits that are so good you should know about it! We want to close the orgasm gap, because unfortunately, not every woman will experience the pleasure of an orgasm in their lives; with only 50-70% of women being able to orgasm in contrast with 95% of men. And, research finds that around 80% of women have faked an orgasm.
Now ladies, it’s time to prioritise your own pleasure. Faking an orgasm isn’t helping anybody - you will leave feeling no less than unsatisfied, and your partner won’t learn how to make you orgasm… which will of course lead to more disappointment.Let’s not beat around the bush with this. Female pleasure is important too.Did you know there are at least TEN different types of orgasms? This means more chance of reaching the ‘Big O’ than you ever would have realised, and we’re going to tell you about each in the hopes that your next sexual experience is your best one yet!

THE CLITORAL ORGASM

The chances are you are already aware of this type of orgasm – it’s the go-to place for women to reach orgasm due to it being the place you can find 8000 nerve endings (a penis has only 4000 – sorry guys).
50-75% of women who reach orgasm need to have clitoral stimulation, in fact most women are unable to have an orgasm through sexual intercourse alone. The clitoris has one sole purpose… pleasure. So, in your next sexual experience, why not say hello the clitoris and hello to maximum pleasure? Of course, each woman will have a preference on how to be touched here as it can be a highly sensitive area due to the amount of nerve endings.
Tip – if you find it too sensitive, try touching through your undies.

THE G SPOT ORGASM

The G-Spot can be a tricky little place to find. But once discovered, women report having earth-shattering orgasms – so it’s worth a go, right? If you want to discover your G-Spot, the best way to do it is by a little self-exploration. It can be located around 2 inches into the vaginal opening and it can be stimulated by using a “come-here” motion. Once you get in the mood… use a little (or a lot) of lube and insert your finger two to three inches up. Create a curve with the finger and then try rocking them towards the belly button. You could also discover the G-Spot by using a curved sex toy designed to reach the area. Once you’ve discovered your G-Spot experiment by using different motions, speeds and anything that makes you feel good – because women who have these orgasms report more emotional and intense orgasms!

THE BLENDED ORGASM

The blended orgasm happens when you stimulate both the clitoris and the inside of the vagina at the same (basically you’re stimulating both ends of the clitoris). The more the better? In this case, yes.. We hear these are the types of orgasms that will have you floating to work the next morning. For a blended orgasm you need to be able to orgasm vaginally and clitorally. You’ll also need the right position - a low doggy will tilt the pelvis for g-spot action but also allow your partner to get their hands on your clit (practise makes perfect obvs). Essentially you’re climaxing twice at once. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.

THE ANAL ORGASM

It’s not everyone’s cup of chai but if you are comfortable with somebody entering through the back door there are nerve endings that can leave you feeling amazing here! The reason anal orgasms are so good is that the anus and the rectum are part of your sexual equipment; the nerves and muscles are all connected meaning that anal, rectal and perineal stimulation all affect the genitals. This also means that you can experience a vaginal orgasm and an anal one at the same time. For anal you need lube, you need to be relaxed and you need to communicate. Start with a smaller toy if you can’t handle full on penetration straight away.

THE SQUIRTING ORGASM

Contrary to belief, female ejaculation does exist. For some reason, this wonderous activity is little discussed, and so, women who can ejaculate feel uncomfortable to discuss it. For those of you who have squirted – yes you are normal, and no there is nothing wrong with you. For those of you who haven’t, squirting is usually initiated through G-Spot stimulation. Like most orgasms you will feel excitement and pressure building up. It can feel like you need to pee just before the release but the key is to relax into it - this may be easier to do with a partner you trust and can laugh about it with if it doesn’t go to plan! There isn’t a solid science behind squirting but just know that if you do experience it there is no need to be ashamed – count yourself lucky, celebrate and stay hydrated!

THE CERVICAL ORGASM

Also known as your C-Spot (we know cervix isn’t the sexiest word in the world). As well as allowing menstrual blood to flow from the uterus into the vagina your cervix is also capable of create its own unique orgasm. Cervical orgasms are said to feel more like waves of pleasure that spread across your body. Rather than one explosion the pleasure builds and plateaus in waves varying in intensity. Consider your cycle when trying this! When you’re menstruating your cervix is lower so it can be easier to reach but may also be more sensitive. As always, every woman is different, so a little experimentation is required to see what you like!

THE EROGENOUS ORGASM

Some lucky ladies can experience an orgasm just from erogenous zones being stimulated. An erogenous zones is any area of the human body that has heightened sensitivity and can cause sexual arousal. Think of the guy from The Intouchables who climaxes through ear play! Some of the mysterious yet exciting erogenous zones that can satisfy you are your inner thighs, the nape of your neck, your feet, your lower abs but most commonly the nipples. It’s no secret that the breast and nipples feel great when they’re touched, sucked or stroked. To try an erogenous orgasm why not ask your partner to have a long, steamy session with your breasts, You could mix things up by taking an ice cube and testing it with a different sensation.

THE COREGASM

Yes, you are reading this accurately, you can experience an orgasm through exercise – what better reason to get to the gym? This type of orgasm is induced through core exercises. As you stabilise the core, you may also contract the pelvic floor muscles, and so experience orgasm. It may be easier on a bike seat.

THE NOCTURNAL ORGASM

This type of orgasm is rare, but real and just goes to show that it’s all in the head. According to research a sleeping orgasm begin with a sexy dream – you know, those ones with Bradley Cooper? The blood flow to your vagina, paired with total relaxation allows the body to reach climax without any other help! Around 37% of women will experience this before the age of 45.

THE MULTIPLE ORGASM

That’s my M.O. (for any Game fans) We are very lucky ladies… we can experience multiple orgasms in close proximity, unlike men who need a refractory period to recover. For those of you who can do this – congrats, you have a gift, I mean, who wouldn’t want to experience intense pleasure multiple times? How many of these orgasms have you experienced?

Before that, I really wasn’t sexual. I bought my first vibrator three years ago. It’s a shame I didn’t discover it sooner. Now, I give Rabbit vibrators to all my girlfriends.
